Description
Grimbergen Blonde
Grimbergen Blond is a light, fruity abbey beer brewed by Alken-Maes Brewery from Belgium. This blonde beer is ochre-blonde in color and has an alcohol percentage of 6,7%. The careful selection of raw materials/ingredients added during the brewing process forms the basis of this high-quality specialty beer. The brothers of the Grimbergen Abbey still guard these ingredients very carefully. The moment you pour the Grimbergen Blond , a beautiful white head forms with delicious fruity aromas. You clearly taste a characteristic sweetness combined with a bitter finish. Absolutely recommended! We advise drinking Grimbergen Blond at a temperature of approximately 8 degrees Celsius.
Brewery Alken-Maes
Grimbergen Blond has been brewed since 1993, but for the history of Grimbergen beers, we go back to the year 1128. 'Saint Norbert' built an abbey for the Norbertine order in the Brabant municipality of Grimbergen. In addition to activities related to the faith, the abbey focused on brewing beer. To this day, the beers are brewed with the greatest precision and the recipes are carefully guarded. During the French Revolution, the monastery was closed, and with it, the brewery disappeared. Later, the abbey was re-established, but without its own brewery. Around 1958, Brouwerij Maes personally contacted the brewery. The intention was to further commercialize Grimbergen Dubbel . After many relocations and mergers between various breweries, the brewery moved to the Alken Brewery in 2007. Since 2008, the Alken-Maes Brewery has been part of the Heineken Group.
Grimbergen Blond's label
There is a unique story behind the label of Grimbergen beers . Traditionally, a phoenix was always featured on the label. At the end of 2010, the label underwent a metamorphosis. The renewed phoenix took center stage on the label and was adapted to modern times. At the top of the label now reads “Phoenix,” and below it is stated 'Ardet nec consumitur.' This literally means: “burns, but does not perish.” It refers to the many times the abbey caught fire and always survived. The brewery thus rose again like a phoenix each time. When you drink the Grimbergen Blond from the bottle, take a good look at the label and think of this fun anecdote.
