Description

Oedipus Gaia

Oedipus Gaia is an India Pale Ale brewed by Oedipus Brewery in Amsterdam. With an alcohol percentage of 7%, this beer can by no means be called light. Upon pouring, a beautiful yellow-orange beer emerges, topped with a firm white head. On the nose, you clearly detect hints of grapefruit and pine. A generous dose of bitterness combined with the fruity flavors completes this beer perfectly. Earthly fertility and heavenly inspiration are brought together under one cap with Oedipus Gaia . We recommend drinking this IPA at a temperature of around 6 degrees Celsius.

Oedipus Brewery

Oedipus Brewery is a striking presence in the beer landscape. Four friends started the brewery in Amsterdam in 2012. By now, the brewery has become an indispensable part of Amsterdam's hospitality venues and various specialty beer shops. This is because Oedipus Brewery often brews with unique ingredients. Additionally, they use distinctive, playful names such as ' Mannenliefde ' (Men's Love) and ' Thai Thai ', likely with the idea of making the consumer extra curious. In any case, with Oedipus Gaia, the brewery has a fantastic IPA on its hands!

Ingredients Oedipus Gaia

As indicated, the brewmaster uses very special ingredients. With Oedipus Gaia, no fewer than 5 different hops have been added. This creates the very fruity character and extra bitterness. In total, the following ingredients have been added:

  • Water
  • barley malts
  • 5 different hops (Cascade, Chinook, Amarillo, Columbus and Centennial)
  • Gist
  • Additional Secret Ingredients

Food pairing tips

We have the tedious job of getting to extensively taste and review craft beer. Naturally, we did just that with Oedipus Gaia . We noticed that the aromas are particularly strong due to the added hops. To enjoy it even more, you can of course pair this beer with a number of dishes. For this, we visited a local restaurant. Together with the chef, we concluded that this IPA is best paired with one of the dishes below:

  • Indian Curry
  • White asparagus
  • Chicken and poultry
  • Spicy and mature cheeses
  • sweet desserts
