Description
Sunny Afternoon
Sunny Afternoon is a refreshing spring bock with an alcohol percentage of 7%. This beer is full of flavor due to having slightly more alcohol than a regular spring bock. Initially released as part of the brewery's Untaped series, it has since been extended due to its immense success. With a minor adjustment to the recipe, this beer has now been included as a regular seasonal beer. When pouring, you see an amber-colored brew. Aromas of bread, grass, and classic malts rise from your glass. With the first sip, you immediately taste the fresh, malty notes, followed by a gentle bitterness in the finish. Despite the slightly higher alcohol percentage, this beer is very enjoyable. However, do be careful, as drinking too much is not recommended. We advise drinking Sunny Afternoon at a temperature of approximately 8 degrees Celsius.
Brewery Hommeles
Brouwerij Hommeles is a playful reference to Humulus, the Latin name for hops. Since 2012, Jos Eberson, Kees Volkers, and Jan Ausems have been brewing beer. All Hommeles beers are brewed according to their own recipes. However, the unique aspect of this brewery is that it has small brewing kettles set up at various locations in the region. This allows for tours and extensive tastings to be given at different places in the area, together with visitors. Despite the brewery not having large brewing installations, this beer can still be brewed in large quantities. For these brews, kettles are used from, among others, De Loonbrouwerij in Cothen and Huttenkloas in Albergen. In addition to the fantastic Untaped series, the brewery now has several permanent beers in its assortment. For instance, with Hopdonder, the brewery has one of the better IPAs in the Netherlands. And with Sunny Afternoon, the brewery now also has a beautiful spring beer in its range.
Ingredients Sunny Afternoon
Sunny Afternoon is now being brewed on a large scale. This is done at the Huttenloas brewery in Albergen in Overijssel. And that's a good thing. Because this beer cannot be missed at the time of spring. The following ingredients are used during the brewing process:
- Water
- Barley malt
- Various hops
- Gist
Food pairing tips
Did you know that craft beer tastes even better when paired with the right dishes? And that is no different with Sunny Afternoon . Despite the high alcohol content, it is best enjoyed with lighter dishes. We recommend drinking this beer on a sun-drenched spring day with one of the dishes below:

- Spicy chicken dishes
