Description
La Chouffe Bok 6666
La Chouffe Bok 6666 is a strong, high-fermentation blond bock beer. This Belgian beer is brewed by Brasserie d'Achouffe, which brews its beers in Achouffe. Many believe the number 6666 is associated with the devil, but this is complete nonsense. The number 6666 actually derives from the postal code where the brewery (Brasserie d'Achouffe) is located. The brewery is situated in the town of Wibrin (Belgium), which has the postal code 6666.
Originally, La Chouffe Bok 6666 was brewed with an alcohol percentage of 6%, but this has since changed. The alcohol percentage is currently 6,5%. This gnome beer distinguishes itself with its unique warm copper color combined with a full, white head. On the nose, aromas of cocoa, caramel, and malt greet you. This autumn bock features flavors of malt, caramel, and dried fruit. A bittersweet touch can be detected in the finish. The label depicts a bent-over gnome with barley and hops on his back. The gnome stares at the beer and looks greedy and thirsty. We recommend drinking La Chouffe Bok 6666 at a temperature of approximately 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
Brasserie d'Achouffe
Brasserie d'Achouffe distinguishes itself by calling its beers 'gnome beers'. Gnomes are depicted on all labels. Founders Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts established the brewery in 1980. The first specialty beers were brewed in a small stable with a starting capital of only €5.000. It was not until 1983 that the beer officially received a name: La Chouffe. Brasserie d'Achouffe now brews thousands of hectoliters per year, which are exported to more than 40 countries. The popularity of the gnome beers continues to grow. In 2006, the brewery was acquired by Duvel Moortgat. La Chouffe Bok 6666 is still brewed at Brasserie d'Achouffe using the same ingredients, but under the management and supervision of Duvel Moortgat.
